{"id":36,"date":"2009-12-06T19:40:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-06T14:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/attalim.ekhwan.com\/index.php\/2009\/12\/06\/the-ant-and-modern-work-culture\/"},"modified":"2010-07-07T12:46:38","modified_gmt":"2010-07-07T07:16:38","slug":"the-ant-and-modern-work-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/taalim.ekhwan.com\/index.php\/2009\/12\/06\/the-ant-and-modern-work-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ant and Modern work culture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every day, a small ant arrives at work very early and starts work immediately.<\/p>\n<p>She produces a lot and she was happy.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief, a lion, was surprised to see that the ant was working without supervision.<\/p>\n<p>He thought if the ant can produce so much without supervision, wouldn\u2019t she produce even more if she had a supervisor, So he recruited a cockroach<\/p>\n<p>who had extensive experience as supervisor and who was famous for writing excellent reports.<\/p>\n<p>The cockroach\u2019s first decision was to set up a clocking in attendance system.<\/p>\n<p>He also needed a secretary to help him write and type his reports and \u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; he recruited a spider, who managed the archives and monitored all phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>The lion was delighted with the cockroach&#8217;s reports and asked him to produce graphs to describe production rates and to analyze trends, so that he could use them for presentations at Board\u2018s meetings.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right;margin: 3px;\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-1603832936106174\";\ngoogle_alternate_color = \"FFFFFF\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 234;\ngoogle_ad_height = 60;\ngoogle_ad_format = \"234x60_as\";\ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\";\ngoogle_ad_channel =\"\";\ngoogle_color_border = \"\";\ngoogle_color_link = \"\";\ngoogle_color_bg = \"\";\ngoogle_color_text = \"\";\ngoogle_color_url = \"\";\ngoogle_ui_features = \"rc:6\";\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\n  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/div><p>So the cockroach had to buy a new computer and a laser printer and<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; recruited a fly to manage the IT department.<\/p>\n<p>The ant, who had once been so productive and relaxed, hated this new plethora of paperwork and meetings which used up most of her time\u2026!<\/p>\n<p>The lion came to the conclusion that it was high time to nominate a person in charge of the department where the ant worked.<\/p>\n<p>The position was given to the cicada, whose first decision was to buy a carpet and an ergonomic chair for his office.<\/p>\n<p>The new person in charge, the cicada, also needed a computer and a personal assistant, who he brought from his previous department, to help him prepare a Work and Budget Control Strategic Optimization Plan\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The Department where the ant works is now a sad place, where nobody laughs anymore and everybody has become upset&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It was at that time that the cicada convinced the boss, he lion, of the absolute necessity to start a climatic study of the environment .<\/p>\n<p>Having reviewed the charges for running the ant\u2019s department , the lion found out that the production was much less than before.<\/p>\n<p>So he recruited the owl, a prestigious and renowned consultant to carry out an audit and suggest solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The owl spent three months in the department and came up with an enormous report , in several volumes,<\/p>\n<p>that concluded :<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe department is overstaffed &#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guess who the lion fires first?<\/p>\n<p>The ant , of course, because she<\/p>\n<p>\u201cshowed lack of motivation and had a negative attitude&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>NB: The characters in this fable are fictitious; any resemblance to real people or facts within the Corporation is pure coincidence\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every day, a small ant arrives at work very early and starts work immediately.
